On June 11, Fei Xiaohua, Member of the Party Committee and Director of Huangdai Town, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, led a delegation to the School of Statistics and Data Science of Southeast University. The visit focused on industry-university-research cooperation.The two sides held in-depth exchanges on several topics. These included data science, artificial intelligence empowering regional industrial development, technology transfer, and collaborative innovation among government, industry, universities, and research institutions.
During the symposium, Professor Liu Zhiyuan, Secretary of the directly affiliated Party branch of the school, introduced the school’s disciplinary strengths and development progress in areas such as statistical modeling, big data analysis, artificial intelligence algorithms, and interdisciplinary applications.Liu noted that the School of Statistics and Data Science is an emerging frontier school at Southeast University. It serves the digital era and national strategic needs. Relying on Southeast University’s strengths in multidisciplinary integration, the school is accelerating the development of an integrated research support system. This system brings together computing power, platforms, data, and personnel.He noted that the school is focusing on “AI+X” application scenarios. It is actively promoting the deep integration of data science with real industries. It also aims to provide talent, technology, and platform support for local industrial transformation and upgrading.
Director Fei Xiaohua introduced Huangdai Town’s industrial foundation, advanced manufacturing layout, location and transportation advantages, and industrial service system.He noted that Huangdai Town has a solid industrial foundation, sufficient industrial space, and a high concentration of enterprises. It has developed an advanced manufacturing base represented by high-end equipment, new materials, biomedicine, and other industries.At present, Huangdai Town is focusing on improving industrial quality and efficiency. It is also working to cultivate and strengthen high-quality enterprises. The town continues to improve its service system integrating funds, bases, and policies. It is accelerating the transformation from traditional manufacturing toward intelligent and digital manufacturing.
Both sides agreed that data science and artificial intelligence have become important support for regional industrial upgrading. Universities and local governments have broad space for cooperation in key technology research, talent cultivation, technology transfer, and industrial services.The school will actively turn its strengths in disciplines, talent, and research platforms into practical results. These efforts will serve high-quality local economic and social development.
